Small World
Jul 15th, 2009
At Camp Garaywa a couple weeks ago, McKenzie met this missionary who has recently returned from a two year stay in India. McKenzie was impressed with Lindsey’s presentation at camp and was VERY surprised when she spotted her in the choir at Springhill Baptist Church Sunday morning! It turns out that Springhill Baptist is her home church, and Benjy happens to be leading music for their revival this week … small world!
Speaking of Springhill’s choir … What a good looking bunch they are! We were glad to have such a talented and eager group as we launched the fall revival Sunday morning. Working with choirs like this is a pleasure. It adds so much to the worship service when a choir enjoys singing and leads out with strong voices.
Bro. Dean Stewart is preaching a strong gospel message this week, and Sunday morning we saw a young girl and her dad come forward for salvation and baptism. The daughter was very young, but was certain that she wanted Jesus to live in her heart … the dad had already asked the Lord into his heart, but was ready to follow in believer’s baptism. It was a very touching moment, and Pastor Joe Beach was pleased to ask the church’s approval for baptism for both these new Christians.
Monday and Tuesday’s sermons were equally powerful, and we are looking forward to hearing more from God’s Word as the services continue to meet at 7:00 nightly through Friday evening. It blesses us to see friends from local churches support each other’s revival efforts, so come join us at Springhill this week if you can!
The missionary wasn’t the only familiar face at this revival. Springhill Baptist is also the home church of Benjy’s cousin, Ronnie Rigney, and his sweet family. Benjy and Ronnie are 5th cousins, and they played high school football together MANY years ago. You can see Ronnie’s wife at the piano in the background. Don’t you love to see a family actively participating in the ministries of the church? That is a blessing to the family and to the community!
I included a pic of the two handsome Rigneys above, and this is a pic of the two pretty Rigneys! Ronnie’s daughter and our daughter were tickled to meet each other and get to know each other a little this week. Rigney girls are a rare thing in our family … so we LOVE our girls!
Next Sunday, Benjy will be leading music at Unity Baptist in Picayune, MS, as they celebrate their 40th anniversary. I believe I heard that there will be dinner on the grounds and singing following the morning service. Interim Pastor Arlis Grice invites everyone to come celebrate this milestone in Unity’s ministry.

More About: Dean Stewart, Joe Beach, Springhill Baptist Church

My daughter was only about 4 1/2 when she was saved! She remembers that we took her out for an ice cream celebration afterwards. Of course, we wondered if it was real since she was so small but it was indeed a real salvation. My son wasn’t much older… perhaps six?
Both of them waited until they were in their teens to get baptized.
Time goes so fast as now there are the four grandchildren (so far).
