Saved at Age 61
Mar 19th, 2008
This weekend Benjy filled the pulpit at First Baptist Lumberton, MS, while Pastor John Sapp was on travel. We’ve never worshiped with the family at Lumberton before, but we found them to be a very friendly body of believers, and they extended a warm welcome to us.
We met Ms. Jo Sunday morning, and she told us how she had raised her children in church. She said that all their lives she had brought them to Sunday School, but she had missed the gift of salvation for herself. She told us she was visiting a revival service at age 61 when she realized something was missing, and that very night she made things right between her and the Lord. She says it doesn’t matter what age you are, the Father is ready for you to come to Him. Isn’t that a sweet story?

This Sunday was Palm Sunday, and the music minister spent a few minutes with the children explaining about the events of that day and why we continue to recognize it even now. The children were very interested because of the tender way she spoke to them. She compared waving palm branches to waving pom-poms at a ball game, and she asked the children how the crowd would feel if they brought a large palm leaf instead … the children all giggled at the thought of it!

We were back for the evening service, and the people continued to greet us with a warm welcome. Thank you folks of First Baptist Lumberton for making us feel right at home! We look forward to worshiping with you again.
