Heaven Was the Theme
Mar 31st, 2008
Benjy was asked to do a morning concert for a special 5th Sunday Celebration this week Derby Baptist Church, and we joined him on the stage for McKenzie’s song “If That Don’t Make You Want to Go.” Those of you who know Benjy understand what I mean when I say that he sang a little and preached a little … I guess that’s why people have started calling him the “Singing Preacher!”
Heaven was his theme as he sang several songs from his new CD and spoke to us about the beauty of that city which has streets paved with pure gold! I’ve been thinking a lot about Heaven lately, and I tell you it really excites me to consider the wonder that awaits us there. The streets of the city and the shores of the River of Life are lined with the Tree of Life. Have you ever thought about how beautiful that must be? I love the Crepe Myrtle trees that line the streets of Picayune, and I can just imagine that the beauty of the Tree of Life lining the golden streets of Heaven will be nothing less than breathtaking!
Benjy took a seat midway through the concert to rest his voice, and Marcus blessed us by playing his new 12 string guitar and singing “I’ll praise Him in the Storm.” I was very touched by his song because he is doing more than just SINGING it, he is LIVING it. Marcus’ dad is fighting cancer right now. Please pray for him and his family concerning this storm in their life.
The concert was followed by dinner on the grounds where we enjoyed a time of sweet fellowship with this precious body of believers. Please pray for Derby Baptist as they seek to fill their empty pulpit with a man of God who has a heart and vision for this congregation and their community.
On His Exciting Journey,
