Happy Birthday Benjy!
Jul 4th, 2009
Last Sunday was Benjy’s birthday (46 if your curious), and he had the privilege of spending that special day preaching God’s Word to the congregation of Goodyear Baptist Church here in Picayune while their pastor, Bro. Gary Killen, was away on vacation.
Here’s a pic of him preaching about how our relationship with Jesus will make us easily recognizable as His friend … if it doesn’t, then perhaps we should examine what kind of relationship we have with Him, don’t you think?
I love the patriotic display behind Benjy … it was placed there in honor of Independence Day, which all of America is celebrating this week. I think it was a precious ‘coincidence’ that, on our Independence Day, my Bible reading has me studying Isaiah’s prophesy about the Savior! I’ve never considered how much God’s gift of salvation is like the independence we fought so hard for in America … only it was Jesus’ blood, sweat, and tears that were shed in the battle. How I love Him for what He did for me! That’s truly something to celebrate.
We were so happy to see our good friends, Janice and Kenny! I’m sorry I didn’t get a better pic … Benjy got them laughing, and I had to do the best I could. We bounce around from church to church so much, we don’t get to enjoy consistent fellowship with good friends like most people do at church. That’s ok though … we LOVE the ministry God has given us to do! It fills us up to overflowing!
Don’t you love McKenzie’s zebra stripes?! The skirt and the purse were both gifts she received for her birthday a couple weeks ago. Amazingly, they came from different people, and she was thrilled to put them together for a ‘complete’ look Sunday morning!
We’ll be worshipping with Goodyear Baptist again next week. Bro. Gary will be back in the pulpit, but they have invited Benjy to come sing for them and lead their morning praise service. We’ll be launching another string of revivals the following week, starting with Spring Hill Baptist Church in Poplarville, MS. Make plans to join us there if you can!
