A Fast Growing Congregation
Jul 2nd, 2008
In a moment of inspiration, Benjy thought to invite the children of West Poplarville Baptist Church to join in the 5th Sunday Celebration by asking them to sing “Swing Low Sweet Chariot,” a song they have been practicing for their children’s choir. They were SO excited and they sang with such enthusiasm, it thrilled the entire congregation. What a sweet thing to see little children learning to delight the Father with praise!
We are so proud of Bro. Kevin Wilcox (pastor) and Bro. Nicki Lee (youth pastor) and the work they are doing at West Poplarville Baptist. Both of these men surrendered to the ministry a few years ago at Union Baptist Church, our home church, and they have recently followed the Lord’s call for them to serve as leaders of this congregation. West Poplarville is experiencing a steady growth as a result of their obedience, and we enjoyed the excitement we felt when we worshiped with them this week. As with most small but fast growing churches, they are faced with some challenges like limited space and mature believers who are willing to teach. If you would like to help this congregation, give Pastor Kevin or Nicki a call and ask what you can do … giving them a word of encouragement and praying for them is a blessing I’m sure they would appreciate!
We’ll be back at Roseland Park Baptist next week to celebrate a special Independence Day weekend. Sunday morning, Benjy will sing “Let Freedom Ring” and there will be a Color Guard Presentation of the Flags accompanied by a special video honoring the five branches of our military. Sunday evening, Pastor Kriss Haymes will continue his exciting series “20 Prophecies Which Have Been Fulfilled in Our Generation.”
On His Exciting Journey,
